Peacemaker?

Cooper Union graduate Tobias Wong is on a mission to reinvigorate conceptual art and design. He sometimes sees himself as caught between the two worlds - he worries that the design world will dismiss him as an artist, and the art world will see him as “merely” a designer. But the work he produces is strong enough to stand up to close inspection from both camps. Witness his seven-foot “Walter Wayle III” infrared Lucite digital clock stick, which refracts surrounding light, and is named in homage to Philippe Starck’s  “Walter Wayle II” clock with hands. Or “Untitled (A Painting),” a mirror with a strip of silver backing removed to make way for a digital clock, which appears, almost magically, to shine through.
